Welcome to Prvw! These terms apply to your use of Prvw, the desktop image viewer app. By downloading, installing, or using Prvw, you agree to these terms.
The short version: Prvw is source-available under the Business Source License (BSL 1.1). It's free forever for personal use. Commercial use requires a paid license. The source code converts to AGPL-3.0 after 3 years. Be nice and respectful, and we'll all get along great.
1. The software and its license
Source-available code
Prvw's source code is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL). This means:
- You can view, study, and modify the source code
- You can use Prvw for free for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Commercial use requires a paid license
- After 3 years from each release date, that version converts to AGPL-3.0, so in case we're hit by a bus, you'll still get the code and can maintain/continue it under AGPL after 3 years.
Personal use (free)
You may use Prvw for free if:
- You're using it for personal, non-commercial purposes
- You're not using it as part of your employment, freelancing, or business activities
- You're the only person using your installation
Personal use is completely free — no trial, no limitations, no nags.
Commercial use (paid)
A commercial license is required if you're using Prvw for work. This includes:
- Use during employment (even for side tasks)
- Freelancing and consulting work
- Any business activity
Commercial licenses are available as:
- Subscription — $29/year per user, auto-renews
The subscription includes all features. You can install on your own devices, subject to the fair use guideline below.
Evaluation
You may evaluate Prvw for commercial use for up to 14 days before purchasing a license.
2. What the license grants you
When you purchase a Prvw license, you receive:
- A personal, non-transferable license to use Prvw commercially
- The right to install Prvw on your own devices, subject to the fair use guideline below
- All future updates at no additional cost
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Share your license key with others or use it on behalf of multiple people
- Fair use: Each license is meant for the single person using it, on their own devices. We don't set a hard limit on how many machines you can use, but we do keep an eye on the number of distinct devices per key. If we spot something that looks like key sharing rather than one person with a few computers, we'll reach out first. If the situation isn't resolved, we may suspend the key.
- Redistribute the official signed Prvw binary commercially or claim it as your own product
- Circumvent or tamper with the licensing system in the official binary
- Use Prvw for any illegal activities
- Attempt to reverse engineer our license key signing infrastructure
These restrictions exist to protect the sustainability of the project. We're a small team, and license revenue keeps Prvw alive. We are not millionaires, we're ordinary folks. Please respect our work and the policies that come with this software.
4. Disclaimer of warranties
Prvw is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that:
- The software will be error-free or uninterrupted
- All features will work on all systems
- The software will meet your specific requirements
That said, we work hard to make Prvw reliable and will do our best to fix issues you report.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rymdskottkärra AB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of Prvw.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for your Prvw license.
6. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email (if you've purchased a license) or by posting a notice on our website.
Continued use of Prvw after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes shall be resolved in Swedish courts. However, nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under EU law.
